About CAB

What is CAB?

Community

The Charity Auction Ball (CAB) is the largest philanthropy fundraising event at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management! Each year, we collaborate with Chicagoland nonprofits, and the student body votes to select non-profit organizations to share the CAB Grant. The entire Kellogg community—students, faculty, alumni, and local businesses—comes together to contribute time, talents, services, and one-of-a-kind items for the CAB auction. Over 200 unique donations are bid on in a live auction, raising more than $100k by the end of the night.

Tradition

CAB is a beloved annual tradition fueled by the creativity and diversity of our community. Beyond traditional silent auction items, our community contributes their time and talents to create unforgettable experiences. Imagine getting your nails done with Dean Cornelli, receiving career advice from Professor Carter Cast, or attending a skill-building session with a Le Cordon Bleu-trained peer. Students also donate experiences like hosting a cultural celebration. These unique contributions make the event one of a kind, with winning bids averaging $50 per person.

Impact

By donating to and bidding in the CAB auction, the Kellogg community helps create a meaningful impact on the local community. Past recipients have received $25,000–$35,000 in unrestricted funds from CAB proceeds. Some of our previous nonprofit partners include Chicago HOPES for Kids, The Josselyn Center, Blessings in a Backpack, and GirlForward.

What is CAB Preview?

CAB Preview is a way to get excited about Charity Auction Ball (CAB) and start learning the ins-and-outs of the bidding process. We auction off a number of events and items donated by students, faculty, alumni, and Chicagoland partners that you can bid on, just like the real CAB (only fewer donation items). All proceeds from the auction will benefit our non-profit partners.
